Zoom, Zoom! Graham County has 2 of the best motorcycle/sports car roads in America! The “Tail of the Dragon” at Deal’s Gap challenges even the best riders and drivers with its 318 curves in 11 miles. The 50 mile long Cherohala Skyway is the other favorite. While tamer, it offers unsurpassed views of Joyce Kilmer Memorial Park and the Cherokee National Forest.
Looking for some culture? Plan on visiting the Stecoah Valley Center where they host a variety of cultural events and live Appalachian music is played very Saturday night all summer long. Visit local crafters and artisans at the Stecoah Valley Center, as well as their shops around the county.
The town of Lake Santeetlah in Graham County is just north of Robbinsville on a peninsula surrounded by Lake Santeetlah, which in turn is largely surrounded by the Nantahala National Forest. This small paradise has more than 200 residences, many of them second homes owned by permanent residents in Florida and Georgia. The Nantahala National Forest provides exceptional recreational opportunities including 50 primitive campsights and fishing. The Santeetlah Marina is the only full-service marina with 76 miles of shoreline. There are also 200 miles of hiking trails in the Cheoah District with trails from Lake Santeetlah to the Appalachian Trail.
